Dear Farm Friends:
If we do say so ourselves, Alemany Farm has never looked so good. Our potatoes have just set flowers, the apples and plums are laden with fruits on their way to ripening, the squash are bursting out and the beans are producing heavily. Our native gardens are a riot of orange, purple and yellow blooms.
To get some of the gardening action, please come out to one of these upcoming workdays:
Sunday, June 16, Noon to 5 PM, including work in our native plant areas
Monay, June 17, 1 PM to 5 PM
Saturday, June 22, 1 PM to 5 PM
Sunday, June 23, Workshop on Composting and Soil Fertility, 1:30 to 4 PM
Monday, June 24, 1 PM to 5 PM
If you want to develop more horticulture skills to make your backyard garden or urban homestead thrive, please sign up for one (or all!) of our Summer Gardening Workshops
• Composting and Soil Fertility 101 w/ Jason Mark. Sunday, June 23, from 1:30 to 4 PM
• Irrigation and Water Management w/ John Stokes, Saturday, July 20, from 1:30 to 4 PM
• Native plant landscaping for the Bay Area w/ Vicki Wilderman, Saturday, August 3, from 1:30 to 4 PM
To RSVP for any of these classes, please write to firstname.lastname@example.org. There is a suggested $20 donation for each of these classes; no one turned away for lack of funds. You can pre-pay for any of the workshops here. Please put the date of the workshop in the “in honor of” field.
Check it out: Friends of Alemany Farm is excited to be a beneficiary of Here Now Dance Collective’s new piece “This Is Dedicated…”, a series of fundraising dance performances structured as a game/dance marathon for four dancers. HNDC dancer Sarah Gould will stretch her dancing ability and stamina to the limit to raise funds for FoAF by trying to accumulate as much time “in play” as possible.
The next performances will be
JUNE 21-23, 2013
FRI 8pm, SAT 8pm, SUN 7pm
Don’t forget you can follow us on Facebook, too, at Alemany Farm.
Thanks, as always, for all of your work to make San Francisco more food secure.
