Help Build an Outdoor Kitchen at Alemany Farm

Dear Farm Friends,

It’s been a longtime dream for us to have an outdoor kitchen space at Alemany Farm, and right now we’re poised to make that a reality. If you’ve ever been unsure what to do with unfamiliar produce from the farm; if you’ve enjoyed exchanging food knowledge, recipes, or traditions with others at the farm; or if you’ve participated in one of our seasonal potluck celebrations, then you already have an inkling of how an outdoor kitchen space could serve the educational and community-building potential of Alemany Farm.

Thanks to the energy and talent of a team of design students from California College of the Arts (CCA) who are spearheading the effort, we have a design, a location, a plan, and a desire to build an outdoor kitchen at Alemany Farm by this fall!

Please visit the Alemany Outdoor Kitchen project on Kickstarter today and make a donation: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/alemanykitchen/alemany-outdoor-kitchen.

The Alemany Outdoor Kitchen team (Team AOK) received an initial cash award in recognition of their excellent design. But these students need $5K more to cover the costs of the kitchen, and have created a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds and explain the project.
You can back this project now by visiting: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/alemanykitchen/alemany-outdoor-kitchen.

You will find a lot of information there, including project details, design renderings, videos…and enthusiasm. You will also have the chance to be a backer of the project at any level, and to spread the word to others. The campaign goal of $5K must be met by August 21 in order for the project to be funded.

Having a kitchen will allow us to bridge the gap between food cultivation and preparation and will be a major step toward teaching nutrition, sharing cooking skills and experiences, and creating more space for the nourishing community that happens around food.

So please check out the Kickstarter campaign, make a donation, spread the word, and help the students at CCA—and all of us—build a fantastic kitchen for the farm. The campaign only runs until August 21, so please visit now and help make this happen!
